The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has published the Root Zone Label Generation Rules Version 5 (RZ-LGR-5). Root Zone Label Generation Rules define a set of parameters that determine valid Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) labels and their variant labels for the root zone of the Domain Name System (DNS).
